Omana's House

A remembering of slow and thoughtful times.
When lights on meant a single flickering gaslamp,
and busy meant a lot of pineapples to harvest.

A stay surrounded by sun and earth.
Between the dancing rays of the South Indian sun, Omana's House stands strong and grounded as an extension of the earth. Constructed with hand-pressed mud bricks rendered with burnt limestone, sand and earth pigments, stability and serenity are never hard to find here.

Though modern conviniences are offered, they're supplied with a gentle nudge to find balance. You can connect to Wi-Fi, but there are limited electical power points and no cables run through the walls behind the bed. Air-conditioning is available, but the fan and pool do a far better job.

This home is yours to make your own. Just let the salty breeze guide and unwind you...

For those who travel to unravel.
Some say it's like Bali and Goa before the crowds. Others say it's like a compact version of Ahangama. What everyone seems to aggree on is that it's hard to leave. Which is probably why many people don't.

If you travel to unravel, Varkala is a destination that will not disappoint. The pace of life here is a soothing antidote to modern mayhem. The space between a morning surf and an afternoon chai can stretch to feel like three days have past, with a whole 24 hours seemingly lost to a hammock.

Fireflies and palm-lined skies.

Omana's House is a nest that's so cosy and complete you may not want to leave. But believe us, you must.

Beneath the palm-lined skies you'll find fragrant local fish curries, Ayurvedic wellness clinics aplenty, sustainable textiles, spice shops, day spas and a plethora of cafes and restaurants that know how to dish up a delicious meal. Spend a day wandering the streets slowly and you're likely to spy a mongoose or two scampering along the road, eat a paper-thin dosa that reshapes your thoughts on batter in a pan, and watch the rituals of a 2,000-year-old temple.

After watching the sun slowly drop below the horizon, the night is another invitation to explore. If the season is right, there can be fireflies buzzing by, bioluminescence in the sea, and people dancing barefoot on the sand under the shimmer of the moon.

Have you packed your bags yet?
